Full Text
A Vocal Serenade.—We will long remember Lieut. Cook, of General Negley's staff, and a few of the members of the invincible 79th Pa., on account of the associations of last night—when burdens which had accumulated by vexatious toil, as huge as high Olympus, were temporarily removed, and comfort and obliviousness to misery, about the dimensions of two Olympuses placed in their stead. When music proceeds from the voice of a siren, its influence is irresistible, but when patriotism is the subject of its grandeur, the emotion it produces on the responsive heart are only to be silently entertained, we cannot convey it to others. Gentlemen, we ask you to repeat your call at your earliest convenience.
