In Arkansas the constitution recently framed in convention will be submitted to the people for ratification or rejection. At the same time votes will be cast for State officers. The Republicans refused to recognize the legality of the proceedings and will stay away from the polls, so the Democrats will have it all their own way. The ticket is as follows:
Governor, Augustus H. Garland; Chief Justice, E. H. English; Associate Justices, David Walker, William M. Harrison; Secretary of State, B. B. Beavers; Auditor, William R. Miller; Treasurer, T. J. Churchill; Attorney General, Simon P. Hughes; Commissioner of State Lands, J. N. Smither; Chancellor, John R. Eakin; Chancery clerk, A. R. Witt.
The Republicans of Arkansas will vote, as usual, on the third of November. To-night, therefore, we may expect to hear of a Democratic victory in that State.
In Indiana a Legislature will be elected which, in turn, will elect a successor to Senator Daniel D. Pratt, Republican. The State offices to be filled are Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, Attorney General, clerk and reporter of the Supreme Court and register of the State land office.
The regular congressional nominees are:
Dist. Republican. Democratic
1. William Heilman Benton H. Fuller,
2. B. F. Rawlins. James D. Williams
3. James A. Cravens. Michael C. Kerr.
4. William J. Robinson. Jeptha D. New,
