Full Text

CHARLESTON (S.C.) August 12.

The legislature of Georgia have agreed on emitting the sum of £. 30,000 one half to be appropriated to the sanguinary purpose of carrying on a war against the Creek Indians: but in order to give this measure an appearance of cool, deliberative justice, commissioners are appointed to treat with the savages at the head of 1500 men. This measure was vigorously opposed by the members of Chatham county, notwithstanding which it passed by a large majority, all the upper country members being for it. The remainder of the paper emission is intended to pay off such arrears as are due to the army.
