Pfc. David A. Willis, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Willis of Jacksonville, route two, is spending an extended furlough at home after having served three years with the Army in the Southwest Pacific.
Almost simultaneously with his arrival home came the news that his sister, Miss Helena Willis, had been promoted to second lieutenant in the Navy Nurses Corps. She is now stationed at the Naval Hospital at Bainbridge, Md.
Pfc. Willis will be at home about two weeks more before returning to duty. He has seen service in New Guinea and in the Philippines during his tour of duty in the Pacific.
Lieutenant Willis is a graduate of Jacksonville high school and the James Walker School of Nursing at Wilmington. She was employed by the Onslow and Pender District Health Department before entering service.
