We have not room for a particular detail of the proceedings of Saturday.
In the Senate a bill was finally passed for requiring a colonel to be appointed for every regiment of militia in the U. States. A resolve was agreed to, that it was inexpedient at this time to interfere and pass any laws on the subject matter of the several petitions praying the prohibition of the transportation and opening of the mail on the Sabbath. The bill to prohibit intercourse with the enemy, was again considered, further amended, and ordered to be read a third time
In the House, PATRICK MAGRUDER resigned his office as Clerk of the House, in a letter to the Speaker, which we shall publish if we can obtain a copy of it The day was principally occupied to the discussion of the bill for paying for property lost or destroyed in the service of the U. States.
