Full Text
A meteor, of uncommon splendor and great apparent size, was seen on Monday evening, about half past six, in the south-east, at the distance of about 40 degrees from the horizon. When it first met the eye, so bright was the blaze which marked its course, for a moment, it could not be discerned through the splendor with which it was encircled. In the latter part of its course, however, it was distinctly visible, leaving only in its path a brilliant train, and attended with occasional coruscations. Its course was nearly horizontal, its progress apparently not very rapid, and its visible duration five or six seconds.
Another meteor, much smaller, and exhibiting but an indistinct train, was seen in the same quarter about ten minutes after.
