Full Text
[If this article is true, the American captain, in our opinion deserves severe reprehension: for he was guilty of a falshood. Neutral masters are not compelled to give any information to belligerent cruizers ; and when they volunteer their information, it ought to be the truth, and nothing but the truth. They ought to consider it beneath the character of an independent American to give any belligerent advantage over his enemy; for to him all nations at peace with his country are friends; much more to invent, or give circulation to a falsehood.
While the United States remain a neutral nation, it is a bounded duty of their citizens to maintain the character of neutrality with honor and impartiality.--Boston Centinel.]
