HOW TO SUCCEED IN DAIRYING

Valuable Pointers Are Given Farmers
by Agricultural Special.

On the trip which the College of
Agriculture special Frisco train made
last week through the state, cards
were distributed, which give in six
concise statements the essentials for
improvement in dairy farming. The
card reads as follows:

1. Feed your cows liberally enough
to allow the good ones to show up.

2. Cull out those that do not make
a profit and keep the best. At least
one-third of the cows in Missouri are
unprofitable.

3. Weigh the milk of each cow regu-
larly and have it tested monthly, if
possible, by the Babcock test.

4. Use only a pure bred bull of a
strictly dairy breed and from the kind
of cow you wish to raise.

5. Raise the heifer calves from the
best cows with great care.

6. Feed your cows silage, clover
cowpeas or alfalfa hay and one pound
of grain to three pounds of milk pro-
duced.
