A nine-year-old child was fatally injured Saturday when he was struck by a car in the vicinity of 126 Bell St. SE, police reported.
He is Otis Lee Bailey, of 140 Moore St., Apt. 18. Officer D. E. Keown said the boy died shortly after he arrived at Grady Hospital for treatment. The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m.
Keown said the youth was struck by a vehicle driven by Mrs. Eleanor S. Mabrey, white secretary, who was traveling north on Bell.
She said she did not see the child, and an unidentified witness said Otis ran into the street from the sidewalk, Keown reported.
However, Officer Keown also stated that no witnesses were available when his report was filed.

He said when he arrived at the scene of the accident, the young student was lying in the street. He was conscious and talking, Keown said.
The officer later reported that Otis was undergoing serious operation for apparent internal injuries when he arrived at the hospital. There was no physical evidence at the scene which would indicate negligence on the part of the driver, Keown reported. No charges were preferred against the secretary and Keown said his investigation is completed. Detectives in the Homicide Squad are slated to investigate the accident, it was reported.
