Full Text

Ratification of the Treaty,

As it will be seen by reference to our Washington correspondent, the treaty has been ratified. Some material modifications have, no doubt, been made from the original form as presented to Congress by the President, an abstract of which we gave in our last. Though the boundary line and the amount of money to be paid by the United States have not been changed. It is supposed that the treaty, with its modification, will be immediately transmitted to Mexico for a concurrence of the President and Congress of that country, yet it is beyond possibility to conjecture what will be their course upon the matter, but it is to be hoped that they will no longer stand in their own light by a rejection of the stipulations. So if that people will accede and ratify this treaty, one of the greatest exploits ever achieved by any government, will be that on the part of the United States.
