Rapid City Journal, 29: A few days ago as W. T. March was felling a tree by his house near Roder's saw mill, on Spring Creek, he met with a series of misfortunes. The tree in falling struck the corner of his newly erected house, damaging it, and then fell on his team which was standing at the side of the house. One horse, a good animal, was killed outright, and Mr. March had one foot injured to such an extent as to lay him up for some time. He is a new comer to the Hills, having just a few weeks ago arrived here and taken up a claim, and it is to be hoped will be more fortunate in the future.
