Fire.—About eleven o'clock on Wednesday night, an alarming fire broke out in the lumber yard of Messrs. Keyser & Gorgas, in Water street above Callowhill. It commenced in a pile of shingles near the counting house, and was doubtless the work of an incendiary. It is said to have been discovered by a watchman. Notwithstanding the unremitting exertions of the engine and hose companies, the fire was not extinguished for many hours, nor until nearly the whole stock of Messrs. Keyser and Gorgas, valued at more than $14,000 was consumed. Considerable damage was done to the lumber in the adjoining yard of Mr. William Randolph; but a brick house and the favorable direction of the wind, which was from the south, enabled the firemen after some time, to arrest its progress. Messrs. Keyser and Gorgas, we are informed, are insured in the sum of $4000, and Mr. Randolph, $4500. Some loss was also sustained by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company.
