Extract of a letter from a gentleman at Greenville to his friend in Pittsburgh, dated May 15, 1795.
The Indians visit this place and the posts advanced, with the greatest confidence. The Shawnee are Settling to plant at Fort Wayne-The Delawares at Fort Defiance-and various parties live and hunt in the neighbourhood of Greenville in the utmost security; indeed, if we may judge from appearances, the general tenor of their conduct Since they have made overtures of peace is of such a nature as to encourage the fullest expectation of a speedy and happy adjustment of all differences subsisting between them and the United States.
