Full Text
Cupid.--There is nothing so delightfully edifying as the bold utterances of Wendell Phillips, when he takes the idea into his hard head to upset the vain boasting of his party in its moments of patriotic effusion. The claim which the party makes of the Union is ruthlessly disowned by Phillips, in this fashion:
It is the first sectional party ever formed in the United States. It does not know its own place, and calls itself a national party, but it is not a national party. The Republican party is the party of the North, pledged against the South to the end of time.--Picayune.
