Full Text

Haverhill.—Judging from the tone of a number of articles that have lately appeared in the Haverhill Gazette, it may be inferred that there is a desire prevailing among the people of that town, and others on the north margin of the Merrimack to dissolve their connexion with Massachusetts, and to become a part of the State of New-Hampshire. We are not informed what peculiar advantages would be gained by this change of allegiance. A writer in the last Gazette says, 'Having parted with the whole of Maine, Massachusetts will not object to the separation of a few towns, if it is our substantial interest to dissolve our present amicable relations. We shall hereafter endeavour to satisfy the towns of Dracut, Methuen, Haverhill and Salisbury that such is our true interest.'
