VERMONT,

In CONVENTION, at Bennington,

Jan. 6, A. M.

A QUORUM being met, the Convention made choice of his Excellency THOMAS CHITTENDEN, President.

Hon. MOSES ROBINSON, Vice-President

The Secretary, by order, read the several acts of this State and New-York, which respected the business; together with the Constitution of the United States.

JAN. 7, 1791.

A motion was made that the Constitution of the United States, be read a second time--which being done--it was moved to be taken up by paragraphs. [This motion occasioned considerable debate--in which the relative situation of Vermont was considered as dissimilar from any one of the confederated States: and that the question was whether he would accede to the Union, or would not.--This last question precluding the necessity of a discussion on the particulars of the Constitution--The question for reading by paragraphs, was, therefore lost.]

MONDAY, JAN. 10, 1791.

The main question for ratifying the Constitution of the United States, was put at three o'clock, P. M.--which passed in the affirmative by a great majority.

While we congratulate the public on the addition of the FOURTEENTH STAR and STRIPE, by our sister State of Vermont--we anticipate the speedy accession of the 15th by the State of Kentucky.

Great demonstrations of joy have been exhibited at Bennington; and other considerable towns in Vermont, on the accession of that State to the union.
