Supreme Emblem Club
A $200 scholarship to the University of Washington was awarded to Paul Thornquist, local high school graduate, according to word received by him recently from Maude A. Barnard, secretary of the Supreme Board of the Supreme Emblem Club which made the award.
In notifying young Thornquist of the honor Mrs. Barnard said: "We offer hearty congratulations and extend to you our very best wishes that you may be successful in achieving your ambitions through furtherance of your education.
"A Scholarship Award Certificate will be presented to you through the president of the Wrangell Emblem Club at the Supreme Convention in Milwaukee in Sept., 1952, as a souvenir of the honor bestowed upon you in consideration of your fine qualifications."
Paul will major in business administration at the University and is leaving next month to begin his studies there. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Thornquist and graduated from Wrangell High School in May.
