Must Face Charge Filed By Foreman Weir of Times Grand Jury,
RELEASED ON BOND UNTIL COURT HEARING
Accused of Offering a Bribe of Five Thousand Dollars for Absence of Witness During Trial of Suspected Dynamiters of Newspaper Plant.
Los Angeles, Sept. 19.—Cited for contempt of court, on the strength of an affidavit filed by Charles Weir, foreman of the grand jury, for refusing to answer questions bearing on the Times dynamiting case, John Harrington, an attorney who is associated with the McNamara defense, is under $1000 bail today, for a hearing before Judge Bordwell.
Weir's affidavit states that Harrington refused to answer questions bearing on charges made by the prosecution that the prosecution's witnesses had been intimidated and tampered with.
Foreman Weir says that Harrington refused to answer when asked if he had promised D. P. Ingersoll $5000 if the latter would procure the absence of his wife, Lena Ingersoll, a San Francisco lodging house keeper, from California during the McNamara trial.
