Trial This Morning

A woman reported kicked in the face and beaten about the head and body by city police is slated to be tried in City Recorder’s Court this morning at 8:30 o’clock.

The reported victim, Mrs. Lillie Mae Hayden, of 17 Pratt’s Alley, was arrested on a charge of being drunk Saturday night, according to reports of Attorney A. T. Walden, defense counsel for the Atlanta branch of the NAACP. Mrs. Hayden is said to have been arrested by Patrolmen Thomas and Dodd, the latter being accused of kicking her in the face after knocking her down at police headquarters. Attorney Walden said it was his information that the entire arrest and brutal attack by the officers was uncalled for.
