WHEAT GROWERS AND BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES MEET

Saturday evening, July 28th, at the Court House, at Plentywood, Montana occurred a meeting of farmers and business men which many believe will mean much toward bringing about closer relations between the farmers of Northeastern Montana and the business men of Northeastern Montana.

The meeting was called by the Plentywood Commercial Club and was addressed by Pres. Dwight R. Cresap, of the Montana Wheat Growers' Association.

Among those present were the following:

P. G. Anderson, Westby Montana, Banker; Wm. Rader, Raymond, Montana, Banker: John W. Schnitzler. Froid. Montana, Banker who produced 30,000,000 bushels of wheat in 1922; Wm. Hass of Hass Bros., of Outlook, Montana, who produced 40,000 bushels of wheat in 1922; Carl Bull, Redstone, Banker: Jens Tange, Redstone, Farmer; I. O. Bakken, Whitetail, Banker; Fred Morck. Antelope. Banker: S. O. Swenson. Medicine Lake. Banker: M. C. Eckley, Medicine Lake, Banker; J. J. Goehring, Whitetail, Banker; Ed. Engebritson, Redstone, Merchant: John Bucklin, Redstone, Machinery & Farmer: L. G. Zeidler, Plentywood, Merchant; A. Dunn, Flaxville, Farmer; John Lacombe, Whitetail, Farmer; C. G. Christianson, Plentywood, Merchant; M. P. Ostby, Plentywood, County Agent; Geo. Bolster, Plentywood, Farmer; S. E. Paul, Plentywood, Farmer & Lawyer.

The following resolutions were unanimously adopted:

Plentywood, Montana, July 28, 1923.

WHEREAS, at this special meeting of the Plentywood Commercial Club. representatives of the various banking commercial and mercantile interests of Eastern Roosevelt, Daniels and Sheridan County, are duly assembled:

WHEREAS, the proposition of working in a spirit of co-operation with the Montana Wheat Growers' Association was fully discussed and three business men of Northeastern Montana were selected to serve as members of a State Committee to act in an advisory capacity with the Board of Directors of the Montana Wheat Growers' Association:

WHEREAS. the business men present at this meeting have personal knowledge of the manner of operation and the success of the Montana Wheat Growers' Association for the crop of 1922:

WHEREAS, it is desired to express the sentiment of this meeting in the form of a resolution;

NOW. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the banking. commercial and business interests of Northeastern Montana, as represented by this meeting, express their confidence in the Montana Wheat Growers' Association, by co-operating to their fulest extent in the present campaign being inauguiated to control sixty five per cent of the 1924 wheat crop in the chief wheat growing States, and that we do hereby go on record as approving the cooperative system of marketing to the end that the producer may receive a price for his wheat that will allow him a fair return on his investment, over and above the cost of production.
