Captain A. D. Smith, director of recreation at Camp Butner, spoke on the programs of the camp at the weekly meeting of the Kiwanis club last Thursday night. He discussed the extension of his direction and the new Army camp. Captain Smith, in charge of recreation, education and entertainment at Camp Butner, told of the work being done to welcome soldiers to the post. He stated that adequate facilities for entertainment are provided at Camp Butner for Southern men and divisions. He commented on the judging going on early in the meeting. S. Watkins, chairman of the committee on recreation, introduced Captain Smith. A. S. Watkins commented on the success of the war bond drive. The attendance prize was won by Kiwanis club. Prizes to sales of bonds and stamps. Reported that was credited with worth at the booths. Of nearly $500 in sales accounted for an item credited to the club. The attendance was good.
