TESTIMONIALS TO VALOR

The arms, voted by the General Assembly of Connecticut to Commodore Isaac Hull and to Commodore Thomas Macdonough for their illustrious services, during the late war, have been delivered to the gentlemen respectively by Governor Wolcott, accompanied, in each instance, with a handsome, appropriate, discriminating letter. These gallant commanders have severally acknowledged the reception of those honorable proofs of public sensibility in such pure and manly style, which generally distinguishes our naval officers; and is in them almost as peculiar as their unrivalled skill and valor in battle.
