Full Text
It is said that the correspondence in the Treasury Department, at which the sub-committee have had a peep, discloses the fact that many of the Deposit Banks placed their claims to a share of the Public Money distinctly on party grounds, and that other Banks were opposed on the same grounds. This is nothing more than we expected. It would indeed have been remarkable if the Administration should have suffered that to be the solitary instance in which its practice has not given the lie to its professions.
