CITY BOOKS OPEN
FOR REGISTRATION
Voters May Qualify for Balloting in
Coming Municipal Election
Registration books for the annual municipal election in Henderson will open next Friday, April 13, and will be open for seven days, excluding Sunday, closing at sunset Friday, April 20.
No great new registration is looked for, other than mostly that of people who have moved from one ward to another, and some few who may have become of age since the last city election.
Voters are warned that registration for State or county elections is entirely different and separate from that in a city election, and will not entitle a resident of the city to vote in the municipal election.
The election will take place according to the city charter, on the first Tuesday in next month, which this year is May 1.
One alderman from each of the four wards is to be chosen each for a two-year term.
There are rumors that certain politically minded ones are endeavoring to trump up a ticket in all four wards against the incumbents. Some think that behind that effort lies a plan for distribution of political patronage in the city set-up.
The mayor is not elected this year, and the balloting will be confined solely to the selection of four members of the City Council.
