PRUSSIA.

BERLIN, March 23.

Order for the organization of the Militia, dated Breslau, March 7.

An eloquent example shows us, that God has taken under his special protection those of his sons that defend their country against foreign persons, with power and constancy, in an absolute confidence in their march. Prussians! Worthy of his aid, you are fit to share these sentiments. You, yourselves, have longed for deliverance from a foreign yoke with inward emotion.

I notice with what zeal the young men of all ranks take up arms, and range themselves under the standards of my army; the alacrity with which men of riper years, despising danger, offer themselves for military services, and in the sacrifices by which all ranks, ages, and sexes, are emulous to show their patriotism.

An army full of courage is ready, in conjunction with our glorious allies, to support such exertions.

The warriors will fight for our independence and for the honor of the nation. Both will only be safe, when every patriotic man in the land shares in this contest for liberty and honor!

Prussians! For this end it is desirable that a general militia be immediately formed, and levy en masse organized. I therefore order the first, and will ordain the latter.

Time does not permit of my deliberating with my faithful states, but the instructions for forming the militia are calculated according to the strength of the different provinces.

Expedition is necessary. The good will of every individual may show itself here. I have a right to expect it. My faithful people will venture every thing in this last decisive conflict for their country, their independence, their honor, and property, to preserve the ancient name of our ancestors gained for us with their blood.

But should any form trivial excuses, and endeavor to elude my ordinance, he shall not only be punished according to law, but experience the contempt of all those who are ready to give up their lives for that which renders men esteemed and sacred.--

My cause is that of my people, and that of all good thinking men in Europe.
