Advices from St. Kitts of August 20th give an Account, That His Majesty's Ships Temple, Capt. O'Brian, and Griffin, Capt. Taylor, having Intelligence of some Privateers and other Vessels that were in the Harbour of Granado, stood away for that Port, and entering it with French Colours, brought to, close to the French Fort, without being discovered who they were; when they immediately struck the French, and hoisted English Colours, and began a smart Cannonade on the Fort, and at the same Time the Ships Boats were dispatched to bring away the Vessels, which lay higher up. An Attack so sudden and so brisk, could not be withstood: The Fire of the Fort, which is a very good one, was irregular and slow; and the Enemy were soon obliged to send off a Flag of Truce, with an offer of all the Vessels in the Harbour, perceiving that those were what we aimed at. Upon this the Firing ceased, and the Men of War's Boats took Possession of all the Vessels in the Harbour, being ten in Number; and shortly after a Sloop from Curacoa brought to along side the Temple, proud of so good a Convoy (as they thought) to Martinico. One of the Prizes is arrived at St. Kitts with a valuable Cargo, and the rest were looked for daily. 'Tis said some of them are Privateers.
