Miss Emily Hendrickson sends in the best attendance report this week. Her attendance the past month has been perfect.
Perfect attendance certificates for the past month were received by the following number of pupils in the respective districts: No. 1, 11; No. 36, 10; No. 12, 10; No. 21, 10; No. 33, 9; No. 1, 7; No. 6, 7; No. 15, 7; No. 13, 4; No. 32, 4; No. 35, 3 and No. 29, 1. Consolidated No. 2 had six in each room.
District No. 7 has added a new suspension globe to their equipment.
District officers in number one have been investigating the cause of poor ventilation in their school room the past month. The last report is that the obstruction is removed and better service from the ventilating system may now be expected.
Word has reached this office indirectly that this county has a very good chance of securing a Summer School this summer.
President of Minnesota State University, George E. Vincent, will speak at the Mora opera house on Tuesday evening, March 18. Every teacher within a reasonable radius of Mora should make special effort to hear him. Mr. Vincent is one of the most forceful orators of the day and no matter what his subject, he will give the audience an interesting and instructive lecture.
District No. 26 is under the necessity of adding more seat room in their building. A new Settler with several pupils has moved to that district the past week.
A poultry census is being taken this week. We have promised the Extension Division the hearty co-operation of all teachers in Kanabec county and trust all will do their best to have the data compiled accurately and within the next two weeks. Further information has been mailed each teacher.
Each teacher is asked to demonstrate to her pupils the process of testing seed corn by the "Rag Doll Test." This will not be attempted until weather is more suitable, but preparation should be made now. Sample of the tester on paper and all instructions have been mailed teachers this week.
Assistant Supt. Cesander promises to visit this county soon and become better acquainted with the rural school conditions.
We expect to call a Teacher's Meeting for Mar. 22 if present plans materialize. Teachers will be notified by letter when definitely settled.
High school examinations will be held in ten rural districts in this county Monday and Tuesday, March 24 and 25. Locations will be published next week.
