High School Music Groups In Havre District Festival
About 75 high school musicians will journey to Havre for the 1955 District Music Festival on April 1 and 2. Friday will be devoted entirely to the performance of solos and ensembles with the Band, Chorus and Choralettes appearing on Friday.
Students who will be adjudicated on Friday are: Leland Scifers, jr., clarinet solo and piano solo; Karolee Pitsch, baritone horn solo; Mary Rose Wilson, baritone horn solo; Jane Rafter, baritone horn solo; Anna Gebert, flute solo; Madeline Gebert, flute solo; Nela Dee Thornley, flute solo; Neal Butolz, sousaphone solo; Dale Goldsmith, trombone solo; Kay Anderson, French horn solo; Norma Olmstead, trumpet solo; Hazel Wilson, clarinet solo; Lorraine Pauly, bass clarinet solo; flute trio, clarinet trio, woodwind trio and clarinet quartet.
Saturday Juanita Pitsch, soprano will sing a solo. The Band will be adjudicated at 11:10 Saturday. Chorus will sing at 2:15 with the Choralettes being heard at 3:15.
Feature Band and Chorus rehearsals will be held Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30. An evening program by these groups and selected solos and ensembles will be heard at 8:00. Members from Harlem selected for the Feature Band are: Hazel Wilson, Leland Scifers, jr., Lorraine Pauly, Pat Williams, Neal Butolz, Kay Anderson and Norma Olmstead. Feature Chorus personnel are: Floreine Johnson, Carol Belt, Madeline Gebert and Genevieve Varnum.
