Quere—Whether the State of New-York, having undertaken to convey property to Robert Fulton, his heirs and assigns, to which, as it now appears, it had no title, is not in justice bound to indemnify them against all loss and harm which has arisen, or may arise, from such undertaking, and from all expences into which they have been led, by reposing a misplaced confidence in its authority.—N.Y.
