BAND CONCERT HELD AT SCHOOL
Police Band Presents Fine Program Last Night in Auditorium

TOTTENVILLE, Sept. 24 - Park Commissioner John J. O'Rourke and other city officials in charge of park band concerts in the city of New York redeemed themselves last night when they sent the New York police department band to Tottenville to give a concert for the disappointment of the two concerts of the past two weeks. The concert which was given in the auditorium of the Tottenville high school, while not largely attended because of the short notice given the band coming here, was enjoyed by those who were fortunate enough to be out. The band arrived here shortly before 8 o'clock and took their places in front of the school, but when it was found too cool for the audience and the players on the outside it was arranged to give the concert inside.

The band of fifty under the leadership of Band Master Otto Erbar presented a program of high class music that included several operatic selections and for each encore a popular selection was given during the two hours that the concert was given. The musicians were seated on the platform and as each number was given a round of applause greeted the players.

Assemblyman William L. Vaughan in charge of the concert, made a brief address during the concert when he explained about the two concerts that were to have been given on the Aquehonga athletic field last week and the week before, which were a disappointment to hundreds of people from all sections of the south shore. He disclaimed any blame for the calling off of these two concerts which were done at the last moment. The concert last night was arranged yesterday morning and word was sent to Mr. Vaughan at noon that the band would be here.
