Full Text

Probably few births ever made more noise in the world than some which recently occurred almost simultaneously at Paris. The mother on this occasion was a big Bengal tiger's wife, residing at the Menagerie Bidel; and so soon as the lady, experiencing uneasiness, began to raise her voice, her lord too, in conjugal sympathy sang out as loud as his unfortunate brother when the flames were licking the bars of his cage at Barnum's fire in Fourteenth street.

This was the signal for the whole menagerie to join in chorus, and to the consternation of the neighborhood a frightful hubbub ensued, which lasted for hours, and nothing could repress it. In the midst of it three additions to the tiger family were, with the Gampish ministrations of the keeper, 'ushered into the world; and at last accounts 'mother and infants were "doing well." It is not stated how many landlords around have received notice of leaving from tenants.
