Full Text
Our neighbor of the Baltimore Gazette appears to have more "hard thoughts" about the recent decision of the Court of Appeals of his State in the Rail Road case, than any of his editorial brethren. As the matter, however, is now all over, we cannot see the use of putting his threat into execution—viz.: "showing that the decision establishes principles more dangerous, as regards the power of the Legislature—and the rights of corporations, than any act of judicial legislation which has ever yet been effected in Maryland." When "doctors differ" who can decide. There are some on our side of the question who think, if a contrary decision had been made, they could have shown its dangerous principles. But this is all now of no consequence. The law gives us our rights, and we must enjoy them.
