SENATE OF UNITED STATES.

MONDAY, Feb. 1, 1802.
Mr. BRECKENRIDGE gave notice, that he would on the next day move that the select committee, to whom had been referred the judiciary bill, should be discharged from any further consideration thereof.

TUESDAY, Feb. 2.
Mr. Ross presented a memorial from the gentlemen of the bar of Philadelphia, unanimously remonstrating against the repeal of the present judiciary system.

Mr. BRECKENRIDGE then made the above motion, on which a debate of some length ensued, in which Messrs. Breckenridge, Cocke, S. T. Mason, Anderson, Wright, Baldwin, and Jackson, supported, and Messrs. Dayton, Ross, Tracy, Morris, opposed the motion.

When the yeas and nays were taken as follow:

Yeas.--Messrs. Anderson, Baldwin, Bradley, Breckenridge, Brown, Cocke, Ellery, Th. Foster, Franklin, Jackson, Logan, S. T. Mason, Nicholas, Stone, Sumter, Wright--16.

Nays.--Messrs. Calhoun, Chipman, Dayton, D. Foster, Hillhouse, J. Mason, Morris, Ogden, Olcott, Ross, Sheafe, Tracy, Wells, White--14.

The motion was, therefore, carried; and the bill, in the shape in which it was committed, is again before the Senate.
