This valley had its place in a travelogue story written by Carl Cleveland and published last Thursday in the Wenatchee Daily World. The story was written by Mr. Cleveland on a trip he recently made down the Columbia river from Wenatchee through Vantage, Beverly, White Bluffs and Hanford and on to Prosser and back by way of Yakima, Ellensburg and Blewett Pass.
The story was accompanied by two cuts, one showing the Kitty Grant, Wahluke ferry boat upon which the trip was made across the Columbia river from the Grant county to the Benton county side, and the other, a picture of Federal Avenue in White Bluffs. Under this latter cut was the following explanatory paragraph:
"The main street of White Bluffs, busy trading center of a rapidly developing fruit center on the Columbia river. The White Bluffs-Hanford district has a distinct advantage in the early ripening of its fruits, allowing it to reach the early high-priced markets. White Bluffs derives its name from the greyish-white color of the perpendicular banks of the river at this point."
