Pittsburg, Sept. 23.—Before the German Catholic congress this morning Rev. Dr. Burchclor, of New York, spoke on the "Catholicity of the Church." He said Catholics had no use for public schools. Roman Catholic children ought to be brought up in their parents' faith.
The congress was formally opened this afternoon. The real object of the congress was brought out today at a meeting of delegates representing thirty-four Catholic societies, the question considered being the adoption of such means as would bring about the centralization of all these unions, thus uniting them on any object that might be deemed for the good of the societies. A committee was appointed to prepare a platform.
