Period Will Mark Twenty-First Birthday of Boy Scout Movement In The United States
TO HAVE PUBLIC MEETING
Mobilization for the purpose of doing some civic good turn, rededication of members of the troop to the scout oath and laws, attendance at Garrett Memorial Presbyterian church in a body, individual good turns throughout the week at home and at school, and a get together meeting of all citizens interested in scouting, will be the features of Scout Anniversary Week to be held February 8 to 14, it has been announced.
This anniversary will mark the 21st birthday of the Boy Scout movement in the United States and the 23rd birthday of scouting throughout the world.
Definite plans for the get-together meeting and other features on the week's program will be made at the regular meeting of Oakland Troop on Friday evening
During Anniversary Week approximately 1,000,000 scouts and their leaders, 44 of whom will belong to Oakland Troop No. 1, will stand at attention and rededicate themselves to the principles of the scout oath and scout law.
During one of the days the scouts will mobilize to do some good turn for Oakland. Last year at the sound of bugles in different sections of the town, all scouts hurried to the scout hall and then each one inspected the town, listing all fire and safety hazards.
The scout uniform will be worn every day and members of the troop will participate in civic good turns—good turns for their parents in the homes and good turns in the schools.
On Sunday, February 8, the troop will attend Garrett Memorial Presbyterian church where Rev. Walter B. Brock will deliver a special sermon to the boys.
Court of Honor Monday
The regular meeting of the Court of Honor will be held on Monday, January 26, in the Masonic Clubroom, at which time a number of merit badges will be passed.
