When the second shift ends at midnight tonight, employes of the Erwin Mills in Erwin will start on their last long summer holiday.
The mills will be closed until Tuesday for the Labor Day observance.
County offices will be closed and the criminal session of Harnett County Superior Court will not begin until Tuesday. City offices. except for essential services will also be closed.
Banks throughout the county will be closed in observance of the holiday and there will be no sales on the Dunn Tobacco Market.
DUNN STORES OPEN
At their last meeting. the Dunn Retail Merchant's Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. discussed closing. but decided to remain open. Since much of their trade is from the rural area surrounding Dunn, they felt they should remain open as a service to these customers.
Meanwhile. Corporal Rommie Williamson. head of the Harnett County Highway Patrol, has instructed his. men to maintain extra vigilance during this weekend. in order to keep the highways of the county as safe as possible.
He urges those planning on a trip over this weekend to be extra careful and points out that the Labor Day weekend has a notoriously bad reputation in the way of accidents.
