THE BONDS ARE O. K.
School Board Meets and Decides the Question of the Validity of the Bonds Recently Voted.
Saturday evening the school directors of district No. 1 met at the office of the secretary and decided the discussion in the matter of the school bonds.
The first question of the validity of the call for bonds was brought up by the wording of the minutes of the meeting wherein it was decided to issue a call for bonds.
It appears that at this meeting a number of prominent citizens were present and took part in the subject under discussion, and that the question of the probable cost of connecting with the sewer and otherwise fulfilling the demands of the city council was liberally talked over by those present.
After a number of estimates had been made. A. R. Sampliner moved that the board issue a call for $30,000 worth of bonds. In recording the matter, Secretary Marsh made the minutes read that the bonds were for the specified purposes as stated. Mr. Sampliner made objection to the matter, as he said that he intended his motion to make the $30,000 worth of bonds cover all the expense of building and connecting with sewer, etc.
At the meeting of the board Saturday, the minutes were ordered corrected, and the matter of the validity of the bonds was therefore settled satisfactorily.
The bids for the furnishing of the bonds were then opened. There were six bids. The board accepted that of Samuel G. McMullin, for the Kansas City Bonding House, at $465 premium, with accrued interest at the time of delivery.
There was nothing done in regard to settling the question of location for the new building, as the time was all taken up in discussing the bond question.
