Elizabeth Victoria Brubaker, the young woman who attempted to kill herself by taking a dose of laudanum in Lancaster cemetery, on Friday but had an undertaker come to her rescue before the job was finished, was taken from the Lancaster County house to the home of Mrs. Carry, on Church street. Last evening her brother, who resides down in the country, came to town and took her home. She had entirely recovered from the effects of the laudanum.
The following is an exact copy of the letter received by Undertaker Gable from the would-be suicide on Friday afternoon:
LANCASTER, Pa., Oct. 11, 1889.
MR. GABLE, Undertaker:
I want you to take charge of my body and meet me at the Lancaster cemetery at 4 p. m. You will find me on my little nephew's grave. Then telegraph to my brother, John L. Brubaker, baker, Minersville, Cornwall, Lebanon county, Pa.
Mr. Gable says that, upon receiving this letter, he hastened to the cemetery and thought it was his duty to do all in his power to save the girl's life, and he did so. After she had been removed from the Lancaster County house at her own request, he notified her parents of her condition and whereabouts. Her brother then came to town and took her home yesterday afternoon.
