Silver Spring attorney J. Fendall Coughlan has filed as a candidate for the Republican State Central Committee of Montgomery County.
Coughlan, resident of the county since 1902, has served as chairman of Precinct 13-7 for the past several years and has also served as a member of the GOP research committee.
A 1923 graduate of Georgetown University Law School, he has practiced law in Silver Spring since 1947. He is a member of the Bars of the U. S. Supreme Court and the Maryland Court of Appeals. He also is a member of the American and Montgomery County Bar Associations.
At the time of his filing, Coughlan said, "I believe that our party should expand and increase its organization, particularly with reference to registration of voters, by encouraging every eligible person to register and then to vote, in order that our candidates may be elected."
He served two terms as trial magistrate in Silver Spring; the court later became Peoples Court.
