Sovereign's purpose, Mr. Sullivan said, is to get up a voluntary chain of independent service station operators with the support of independent refiners. The chain at the present time has organized 1000 service station outlets in the midwest.

Its advantages include that of making available to the independent operators an organized system of consistent advertising and sales promotion. The chain also makes available to its affiliates sales coupon books, rest room supplies, uniforms, paints and advertising material.
