Full Text

On the 10th inst. a small boat with five passengers and two ferrymen, proceeded from Cooper's Point upon the standing ice: when she approached within two yards of the western shore, just above this city, it became necessary to launch it into an open space; in doing this, from some inattention in placing the passengers, the hinder part and one side of the boat dipped under water, the inside was filled, and the skiff was sucked by the tide under the fixed ice. By this melancholy accident two men, two women, and a child were drowned.
