Woman Spots Snake On Her Shoe, Nearly Equals Record Broadjump

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (A--They say Miss Louise Mizell nearly equaled the world's record for the standing broadjump when she glanced down and saw a water moccasin crawling across her shoe.

She was standing near her car on Main Street Friday receiving congratulations from a friend on her new engagement ring.

The snake oozed up the wheel of Miss Mizell's car and disappeared under the hood.

She promptly offered the car for sale at a huge discount but calmer heads prevailed.

Someone drove the car to a nearby service station, where an attendant turned on a steam hose full blast. The snake was never found.
