(From Tuesday's Daily.)
Employment by the Santa Fe, Prescott and Phoenix railroad company of a youth of 16 last year, and his subsequent fatal accident in the local yards, are the basis of a damage suit filed yesterday by Inez Wood, administratrix of the estate of Royce Wood.
Named as defendants in the suit are Walker D. Hines, then railroad administrator, the Santa Fe, the S. F. P. P. and the California and Arizona lines. The judgment Mrs. Wood asks is $30,000.
The complaint alleges that the company was negligent in its arrangement of tracks leading from the turntable to the yard. Young Wood is alleged to have been riding a moving locomotive off the turntable, and the uneven character of the tracks is said to have caused the jerk which threw him off the train, causing injuries from which he died a few hours later. At the time of his death, the complaint says, the boy was earning $100 a month, although but 16 years of age.
