New Orleans, October 12, 1874.
To His Excellency U. S. Grant, President of the United States, Denison, Texas:
The City Council join with me in the earnest hope that you may find it convenient to return to Washington via New Orleans.
Your visit would be highly gratifying to our citizens, who would unite with the city authorities in extending to your excellency and suite a very cordial welcome.
