Newport, Rhode-Island, Sept. 3. Capt. James Allen having had Letters of Marque and Reprisals granted by our Honourable Governor to go against the Spaniards, he has the Command of the Sloop Revenge, a fine new Vessel belonging to Capt. John Browne, Merchant of this Place, mounted with ten Carriage Guns, and ten Swivels, and 76 stout able Men, most of them Sailors, very well fitted with small Arms, Ammunition, and other Necessaries for their Voyage, who sail'd last Saturday on a Cruize for the West-Indies.
