Richardson, Samuel Farrow, and Joseph Alston. John Horlbeck Jr. was elected State Bank Director replacing Henry Middleton, the new Governor. Taylor also filled a vacancy in the current Congress due to General Sumter's resignation. Another Senator election was set for the next day.

COLUMBIA, Dec. 18, 1810

The Legislature this day proceeded to the election of a Senator to Congress, for 6 years from the 4th of March next--J B Richardson, John Taylor, Samuel Farrow, and Joseph Alston were the candidates. At the first balloting, the votes were—for Alston 53, Taylor 40, Farrow 33, Richardson 29, no election, at the second ballot, Taylor 66, Alston 60, Farrow 17, Richardson 9, no election; at the third ballot only Taylor and Alston started, when the votes were, for Taylor 83, Alston 74; 79 being the majority, Taylor was consequently elected. John Horlbeck, Jun was elected a State Bank Director, in the place of Henry Middleton, elected Governor. The Legislature will to morrow elect a Senator in Congress, to serve until the 4th March next--Times

John Taylor, Esq is also elected by the Legislature to fill the vacancy in the present Congress, occasioned by the resignation of General Sumter.
