On Wednesday evening at a dram-shop near the corner of Schuylkill, Seventh and Cherry streets, a butcher who had stopped on his way to Bush-hill, detected a fellow thrusting his hand into his pocket; a scuffle ensued and the butcher left the house. On his route he was waylaid by his antagonist, and a desperate battle took place between them, in which both were severely and dangerously wounded. The robber stabbed and cut the other with a dagger, but was finally over. The butcher secured him and he was committed to prison by the Major yesterday. He was recognised as the prisoner who was convicted of murder in the second degree a year or two since, and sentenced to eighteen years imprisonment, but pardoned by the late Governor after a confinement of two years.—lb.
