Massachusetts Legislature—has for some time past been occupied with a variety of local business. Banking, Insurance, and Turnpike companies are the order of the day. We shall next week devote a column or two for a summary of the proceedings.

The bill for establishing a new Bank at Boston, has passed both houses.

Bills are before them for establishing a new bank at Salem—one at Saco—one at Northampton—one at New Bedford and one at Roxbury.

The Maine Turnpike Association bill has passed for a third reading.

Bills to establish the Gotham Academy, also one at Hamden, have passed to be engrossed.

The Legislature have made choice of the Hon. TIMOTHY PICKERING, Esq. as a Senator in the Congress of the United States, in the room of the Hon. Dwight Foster, Esq. resigned.
