Capt. Freeman, who arrived here, on Monday last, from Shelburne, informs, that on the 9th inst. being about 20 leagues distant from Cape Cod, which bore E. by N. he met with a wrecked sloop, between 50 and 60 tons burthen, a high and short quarter deck, plank sheered round, green stern and quarters, a new square-sail, with a square tuck, masts and spars gone, two ports on each side—loaded with lumber, and supposed to be bound to the West-Indies. Capt. Freeman went on board, took from her a remarkable pair of tongs, marked B. C. and a tiller made of rock maple, painted red and black. He discovered no person, dead or alive; and there being a very rough sea, he was obliged to leave her.
